Tool · Google Maps data

Google Maps scraper, without scraping Google Maps.

Pick a business category and a city. Reachant pulls the companies from the official Google Places API, then enriches each one with website contacts, social profiles and the decision-maker.

Quick answer

A Google Maps scraper is a tool that pulls business listings from Google Maps (name, address, phone, website, rating, category) into a spreadsheet for prospecting. You can get that data three ways: a browser extension that scrapes the Maps page, your own code on the official Google Places API, or a managed tool. Reachant is a managed tool built on the official API that also adds emails, social profiles and decision-makers.

Definition

What people mean by a Google Maps scraper

When a sales rep or an agency owner searches for a "maps scraper", they rarely care about maps. They want a list: every dentist, roofer or HVAC company in a city, with a phone number and a website, ready to call or email. Google Maps is the most complete public directory of local businesses, so it is the obvious source.

The catch is that a Maps listing alone is a thin lead. It tells you the business exists and how to reach the front desk. It does not tell you the owner's name, an email address or the company's LinkedIn page. That second step, enrichment, is where most of the real work in a local business lead list happens.

How Reachant works

Why Reachant uses the Places API instead of scraping Maps

Reachant does not scrape the Google Maps website. It queries the official Google Places API (Text Search), which is the access route Google offers for this data.

Two documents explain why that matters. The Google Terms of Service list, among prohibited conduct, using automated means to access content from Google services in violation of the machine-readable instructions on its pages, such as robots.txt. And section 3.2.3(a) of the Google Maps Platform Terms of Service, titled "No Scraping", says customers will not export, extract or otherwise scrape Google Maps Content for use outside the services.

To be precise about what that means: these are contract terms. Breaking them can get an account or IP blocked; whether it creates other legal exposure depends on where you are and what you do with the data, and we are not your lawyer. The API is not a free-for-all either. Google's Places API policies limit caching of Places content (the place ID is the stated exception) and require attribution. The practical upside of the API is stability: documented fields, no CAPTCHAs, no broken selectors after a redesign.

What fields come back, and where each comes from

Each company is one row in the app and in the CSV export. Any field can be empty when the data does not exist publicly.

How to

How to build a list from Google Maps data in Reachant

1
Create a free account at app.reachant.com. No credit card for the Free plan.
2
Pick the market (United States or Brazil), one or more business categories from about 4,000 Google business types, and a city or region.
3
Check the estimate. The app shows how many leads and credits the search will use before it runs. If fewer companies are found, the unused leads are refunded.
4
Run it. Basic data (name, phone, address) arrives in about a minute; enrichment runs in parallel and takes a few minutes.
5
Export the CSV to your spreadsheet or CRM.

Prefer working from an AI assistant? The Reachant MCP server runs the same estimate-then-search flow from Claude or Cursor.

Pricing

Free plan and paid plans

A lead is one company found; credits pay for enrichment steps. Plans are monthly and priced in Brazilian reais (BRL):

  • Free: R$0, 50 leads and 100 credits, no card.
  • Pro: R$79.90, 1,000 leads and 3,000 credits, 14-day trial.
  • Business: R$139.90, 5,000 leads and 15,000 credits, 14-day trial.

Details and the cost of each enrichment step are on the pricing page.

Limits

What it does not do

  • Emails are not verified. They are public addresses found on the company site. Run them through an email verifier before a cold campaign.
  • Not every business has every field. A plumber with no website will have no scraped email or socials.
  • No sending. Reachant builds the list; it does not send emails or sequences, and export is CSV rather than a native CRM sync.
  • No employee-count or intent filters. You filter by category and location.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free Google Maps scraper?

Several Chrome extensions and open-source projects on GitHub are free to install, and Google gives a monthly free usage cap on each Places API SKU. Reachant's Free plan gives 50 leads and 100 enrichment credits a month with no credit card, which is enough to test a category in one city.

Is it legal to scrape Google Maps?

Legality depends on your jurisdiction and use, and this is not legal advice. What is clear is the contract side: the Google Terms of Service prohibit using automated means to access content in violation of a site's machine-readable instructions such as robots.txt, and the Google Maps Platform Terms (section 3.2.3) restrict exporting or scraping Maps content. Using the official Places API is the sanctioned way to access that data.

Does a Google Maps scraper give you email addresses?

Google Maps listings do not show email addresses. Any tool that returns emails gets them from somewhere else, usually by visiting the company website. Reachant does the same: it collects public emails found on the site, and it does not verify them. See how to find and verify business emails.

How many results can I get per search?

The Places API Text Search returns at most 60 results per query, according to Google's documentation. Tools work around this by splitting a region or a category into several queries. In Reachant you choose categories and a city, and the app shows the lead estimate before running.

Can I run it from Claude or Cursor?

Yes. The Reachant MCP server lets Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor estimate and run searches, up to 5 categories and 200 leads per request, and returns the CSV as a one-hour download link.
